I own a camper van and wanted the ability to use my crash pads (soft pads used for protection when bouldering) as a comfortable couch.
Design, scope, implementation
I designed the couch using the CAD software Fusion 360. The intention was for it to be customizable as well as suitable for CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing, e.g. laser cutting or CNC milling). The CAD model is mostly parametric, e.g. in terms of crash pad dimensions, backrest angle, base angle and base height.
I have produced one couch, which I did by hand.
